Throughout history statues have been built to represent a great moment but the Statue of Liberty was build to symbolize a great idea and country. At that time in history people were flocking to America because they were either being persecuted in their home countries or they were just disappointed at the status of their lives and wanted to come to the land of opportunity to start a new life. This is a great symbol of art because The Statue of Liberty is magnificent in every way, and serves its purpose to a superb level. Like I mentioned previously, location, location, location.

the statues location was perfect back in the days of Ellis Island and is perfect now as a tourist site. Shortly after the immigrants on the boats first spotted the land of their new homes, they came into the Hudson river to see this grand statue, and to most people it wasnt just some lady who was standing in the middle of a river, it was the lady who was going to free them or help them from their inadequate lives. To this point in time, America is now more diverse than it ever was and daily people line up in battery park to take the ferry over to see the Statue and Ellis Island and I believe it is because people want to see and feel what America is really about. Illegal immigration is an on-going issue, which is of much importance in the United States today. It has been overlooked for many years, however it has reached a point where it can no longer be ignored. This, however, has proven to be very difficult since it is still an issue today. The argument is that the illegal immigrants are taking jobs away from American workers, hurting the economy, destroying American culture and the way of life, and are responsible for a big part of crimes and drug trafficking. The different opinions about illegal immigration is the source of all of the chaos, which is yet to be resolved.

The real issue at hand is to focus on creating a reasonable and justified solution to this controversial and pressing debate that has divided the nation into pro-immigration and anti-immigration beliefs. On October 28, , the people of France had given a gift to the United States to commemorate the lasting friendship between the two. The Statue of Liberty, also known as Lady Liberty, is a foot statue of a woman holding a book and a torch. She symbolizes democracy and freedom from tyranny and oppression. Located in the Port of New York and New Jersey is the Statue of Liberty, built by Gustave Eiffel, to fabricate the symbol of freedom. Standing at the entrance of the harbor, Lady Liberty welcomes arriving immigrants before reaching the United States.

This issue has brought multiple political figures and opinions into-the spotlight, each accompanied by a plan and part of a political agenda. Central American immigration into the U. still remains unsolved despite the efforts of President Obama who had promised a comprehensive immigration reform. Some believe that America was built upon immigrants, and that smart immigration practices will benefit the economy and nation as a whole. However, others feel that immigrants hurt the nation by limiting the number of jobs available to Americans, and bring crime and public insecurity.

Since the Immigration and Reform Act of , both the Democrats…. However, during the past few years, there has been an influx of illegal immigrants that a lot of people view as a threat to the sovereignty of our nation. This flood of undocumented immigrants has spawned a debate about whether illegal immigrants should be allowed to cross national borders and stay in the country to start a new life. The United States should put more money into security to patrol its borders because illegal immigration is more harmful than it is beneficial not only to the country, but also to the citizens of the United States. Every time I read these words, they resonate with me more and more. The Statue of Liberty is the single most iconic symbol of everything America stands for, and has stood for, over the last years, and while its structure still holds, its sheen is gone.

Immigration has been an ongoing debate in the United States for a long time. Every year, there is a growing number of immigrants arriving in the U. S to find a place of refuge while others just want to achieve the American Dream. The American Dream is the idea that people should have the opportunity to succeed despite their circumstances. However, not everyone that enter the United States do so legally. Many do so illegally by being smuggled or overstaying their visit to a friend or family member in the U. As a result, the U. S government has made an immense effort to protect the border by ensuring that only the people legally permitted to enter the U.

can do so. S population in the last decade, equal to 80 percent of total population growth. Over the many years the Statue of liberty has become a symbol that has many interpretations. The Statue transcends beyond its physical appearance and is looked upon as a symbol that is a strong representation of freedom and hope that was given to the countless individuals that have come to the United States and the ones that are looking for a new way of…. The evening news is ripe with controversial legislation, policy and debate from the lawmakers of the United States. The laws in place are not working to curb illegal immigration and the harshest policies are serving to destroy communities and drive away the very hard-working and humble personalities that this country needs the most.

Now is the time for the government of the United States to considerately review and amend laws regarding immigration to this country and provide a modern, safe and reasonable system for immigration. Over time, the United States Immigration system has undergone a myriad of comprehensive reforms which have proven to greatly impact the composition of its population. Preceding the current Obama administration and previous Bush administrations of the early s, relatively recent major reforms were made to the U. immigration system through the passage of bills beginning in under the Immigration Reform and Control Act, in under the Immigration Act, and in the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of Bodvarsson and Van den Berg, Each of these legislative bills proposes different sets of provisions which include, to some degree, address comprehensive immigration reform.

Immigration laws are a commonly brought up, controversial subject among U. S officials. There are 4 seperate arguments from the supporting side, with the only question being what branch of the government should be in charge of them, and how. The first argument is that immigration dilutes or change existing languages, religions, cultural norms, etc. The second argument is that immigrants will flock to countries with generous social welfare programs, resulting in urban slums and flooded social networks. The third argument is that immigration can harm the country they come from if the departing immigrants are high-skilled in labor.

The fourth argument is that that immigration lowers the income and job availability of domestic, low-skill workers. The Greek Statue of Rhodes was created to applaud the great victories by Helios and his audacious actions in battle. Following this, Lazarus describes in great detail this new colossus. The imagery presented in this line depicts the Statue of Liberty as being a mother who conjures hospitality and warmth to incoming refugees. The open—immigration policy that was maintained until the late nineteenth century helped to populate the United States.

From thru , the United States population grew from 5. Immigration had a huge impact on how the United States grew socially and economically. It was a new world that offered hope and new beginnings. It was place of safety and freedom, a place where opportunity and success could be found around every corner. Today some still see the United States as a place to prosper, however to those who were born and lived here see it in a different light. It is a place where native born citizens are continually being pushed out of their communities because of weak immigration policies.

They deal with overcrowded education systems and lack of adequate job opportunities to support themselves and families and where politicians say one thing when to get in office do another when there. A survey that was taken in September showed that out of people, 49 percent were bothered about the presence of illegal immigrants. Over a decade later in April , 45 percent of people surveyed were personally worried about the presence of illegal immigration Segovia With these social, economic, and political inequities, the United States must adopt and implement stronger immigration policies restricting immigration and preventing further deterioration of its society. One of the most controversial political issues of today is that of illegal immigrants from Mexico.

Illegal immigration into the United States is a problem that should be stopped, as it is unfair to both Americans and to the people of the country from which they illegally immigrated. It is thought that the majority of illegal aliens residing in the U. are Mexicans Anderson Whether the illegally take jobs, the continued influx or illegal immigrants promotes disrespect for the law and seriously limits our ability to control out immigration policy. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom, peace, and everything else America stands for. The Statue of Liberty was given to the United States because of the help and friendship they had given each other in previous wars, for example, the Revolutionary War.

One of the biggest things with the Statue of liberty was that it was a patriarchal construction of a woman as a model for a nation, during a time of a dominant male society. There are different features on the Statue of Liberty that symbolize different things. The seven rays coming out of the crown represent the seven seas and seven continents of the world. The twenty-five windows on the crown represent the gemstones found on earth. The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, which it was built on, symbolize Americas welcome ness to immigrants to all over the world. The effects that immigration has on the United States are limitless. There have been endless debates over these effects since as early as the colonial times. The economic, fiscal and demographic effects are three major topics that tend to rule these debates.

Based on both positive and negative essays on immigration by Roberto Rodriguez and Star Parker, one can conclude that immigration is good, but should be limited. Presidency have debated over whether they will create border walls or create immigration restrictions. The reality is that some type of action must take place for the United States to continue on its present path of stability and prosperity. The quandary is that the U. has, from its birth, been known as one large melting pot. In fact, there is a poem written upon the Statue of Liberty indicating that this country stands for freedom and the admission of those seeking refuge.

Immigration is a highly debated topic within this great nation. This is because of the dilemmas that could arise if the immigration system were left unregulated. Although this statue stands for the freedom from oppression that this fine country offers, there are still rules in place for those that wish to reside here. There has to be a balance between the amount of people allowed to come to this country and the freedom offered with this admission into the country. That is why the expensive wall that Donald Trump has talked about is an unwise investment, and the indifference towards the amount of illegal aliens in the country who pay taxes is not all right.
